Show A Little Love

In case you were not aware, today is not only Friday the 13th, but World Kindness Day.  Those of you who know me well know that I always try to be kind to everyone I meet.  I don’t care what you look like, I don’t care what you do, I am friendly with everyone.  That’s just me.

Unfortunately, there are quite a few people in the world who were not afforded the blessings in life that I have received. There are those who are homeless, those who have lost all hope, out of work, on the verge of losing their home, the list could go on and on as to why people just “don’t have it in ‘em” to show kindness towards others.

I’m one of those people who smiles at complete strangers walking down the street.  If they make eye contact and smile back, I always say hello.

Such small steps on our part can make a huge difference in another person’s life or day.  Don’t have a clue how to start?  Here are a few tips:

• Smile at a complete stranger for no reason other than to smile
• Say thank you to the clerk who has a shitty attitude at the store
• Help a stranded motorist by stopping or calling Roadside Assistance
• Give a homeless person a blanket or a meal, or an old coat
• Post a Pay It Forward entry on your blog – and DO IT
• Help a mom struggling to put groceries in the car and keep an eye on the kids running around at the same time
• Drop off a meal for a sick neighbor or an elderly person you know
• Visit with an elderly person, for no reason at all other than to give them some company

So today, and every day for that matter, show a little kindness to another human being.  What you give doesn’t have to cost a thing, but what you receive in return is absolutely priceless!
