Greetings from Mommy Land

Hello ladies and gentlemen! No, I did not fall off the face of the earth, although it did feel as though I had when my mechanical brain decided to go belly up on me this weekend.  Just when I had the external back up and running, Windows XP decides to try and install SP3 on my computer and just seriously fucked it up.  Took me almost two days to get it off the system and undo the damage that it did to the laptop components (made absolutely everything inoperable again) but the external is dead.  My detached mechanical brain just went belly up.  Whatever SP3 did to it, was unrepairable.  So now I am in the market for another external. I can send it back to the company and they will replace it with a refurbished one (which is what this one is…yes, we went through this problem less than 9 months ago) but given their track record, not so sure I want to go with the same company or not.

chicken soup My boys are sick yet again.  The weather here in Virginia has been absolutely crazy. Summer cannot let go and keeps teasing us all with warm days in the 70s and then Winter blows in and gives us frigid temps in the 40s and 50s and dropping us dangerously close to the freezing mark during the night.

My baby boy is home with me today, curled up on the couch with the remote firmly planted in his hands and snuggled under the blanket, watching Disney Channel and coughing like he has the croup.  I wish there was something I could do to help ease his coughing, as even the cough medications I have tried are not helping any.

My lovely daughter just celebrated her 21st birthday last Wednesday.  She had a night out with friends and her husband on Saturday, and she is battling a terrible cough and upper respiratory infection as well.

It’s that time of the year.

birthday cake We are gearing up for the Head Demon’s birthday next Monday.  He’s going to be 10 years old, so we are trying to decide if we want to do a party here at the house with his friends, or have him invite a friend to go to the movies to see either This Is It or his next choice, 2012.  I think we will probably opt to do the party here at the house and just keep the movie trip for the family…but we shall see.  Have to check with The Man Thing and see what he wants to do.

We had a big party for my daughter when she turned 10 complete with clowns and games and fun and prizes, so I want to make sure that we do the same for each of the kids, fair is fair and all that!

Have quite a bit I wanted to catch you all up on…remember the lady that I did the contract work for back at the end of September who then decided that, after the job was done and totaling $120, she only wanted to pay me $55 for the campaign? Well she finally came through and brought me the remainder of the money she owed me on Saturday.  Only took a month to get it…yeah, won’t be doing any work for her ever again, thankyouverymuch.

07reospeedwagon[5] Last but not least, remember the REO Speedwagon and Styx concert that I was supposed to attend last Tuesday?  Monday evening, around 4:00 PM I get a “Late Breaking News” update email from the local paper indicating that the concert was CANCELED.  Talk about being totally disappointed. I was beyond disappointed, and even more so when I learned the following day that their reason was “unforeseen scheduling conflicts.” Um, excuse me?  You set the tour up a year in advance, you know what cities you are going to be performing in and when, so what the hell was the conflict guys???  Give me a break! My personal opinion is that there were not enough seats sold so they decided to skip the concert here in Richmond all together.  I am more than a little disappointed. Thanks a lot guys for breaking my heart and ruining a long-standing dream to attend a live concert.
